Let the games begin - Maingear F131

Maingear F131 is a high end gaming desktop with a overclocked Core i7 950 chip (overclocked to 4.2GHz), and two Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 graphics cards. The cost of this system is $2,499 and it is lower than what other manufacturers are asking for such components. The gaming performance is nothing out-of-the-box but still very competitive. There are not a lot of games out there that the Maingear F131 will struggle with. There are a few that might challenge the machine but you can always tone down the settings for a good looking and smooth gaming experience. Because of the Intel X58 motherboard and the 3 PCI Express graphics card slots, you can put in another gaming card for getting more gaming eye candy.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410

The Lenovo ThinkPad T410, the latest addition to the T-series, is said to be one of the best notebooks for business in recent times. Not only does it perform well, it also scores with its superb battery life. It is thinner and more attractive than its predecessors and is priced at $1, 269 (Rs. 58, 971); powered by Nvidia graphics.

It has a good, solid design and is fairly easy to carry. The keyboard, with its strong tactile feedback has a good design, like all other ThinkPads and the accurate touchpad supports multi-touch gestures like pinch in/out to zoom. The 14.1-inch LED backlit screen serves well while watching movies and playing games and has a webcam on top of it. It is shipped with either integrated Intel GMA HD Graphics or the Nvidia NVS 3100M (256MB DDR3) and both perform remarkably

The ThinkPad comes with a lot of different configurations: the processor can be either 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-520M, 2.53GHz Intel Core i5-540M, or 2.66GHz Intel Core i7-620M. We have already specified the GPU variations and when it comes to storage, if you are not going for the 128GB SSD, then hard drives with sizes 250GB, 320GB or 500GB are available, in either 5400rpm or 7200rmp speed.

It comes with a one year warranty that can be upgraded to three/four years. The ThinkPad T410 not only keeps up with the high level, it also proves to be even better than its predecessor, T400, by offering more enhancements.

Opera Mini for iPhone!

Opera Mini, possibly the best browser for Java based mobile phones has been announced by Opera for the iPhone. While the browser is still not available for public use, it is surprising that it is there for the iPhone OS at all.

Since a while Apple has allowed for developers to create browsers for the iPhone under the condition that they use WebKit as the browser engine. Does this mean that Opera has adapted the iPhone version of the browser to use WebKit instead of their own Presto? This is also the reason that the Mozilla Firefox browser is not available on the iPhone yet, although it will be making its way to Android soon.

10 reasons why the iPad fails to impress

For a device which claims to provide the best internet browsing experience, support for Flash is essential, and yet the iPad shuns Flash. This does more to hurt the iPad than it does Flash. For an internet centric device which boasts of 3G and WiFi connectivity, the lack of suppot for the full and rich interent experience is a blunder. A large sumber of cloud applications rely on Flash, and it is not just restricted to web-video. While shunning Flash from the iPhone might have worked out fine since no one expects a full interent experience on a phone, however when you are buying a device which is supposed to bring the "best web experience" you expect more.

D-Link DIR 685 At Rs. 21,000

The D-Link DIR 685 Router is a high-end feature-rich router. It has a smooth finish and a 3.2-inch LCD screen, making it one of the better looking routers in the market.

The D-Link DIR 685 comes with two USB ports for external storage devices and it also has a slot to attach a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive (up to 500 GB) on its rear side. It can also be used as a photo frame although we would have liked a larger screen to better suit that purpose, like the one on the Transcend PF810 Digital Photo Frame. The D-Link DIR 685 is easy to set up, although it takes a long time to start up. The touch screen buttons have a definite delay in the response time. The LCD is crisp and it displays information such as internet speeds. The router provides unique features such as FTP server and file sharing on the network. It even offers Bittorrent downloading capabilities.

Transcend PF810 Digital Photo Frame

The Transcend PF810 Digital photo frame is one of their largest digital photo frames with an 8-inch screen, however with a rather medioce resolution of 800x600. It offers an internal storage capacity of 2GB, which is plenty for images, and supports a number of storage expansion via SD / SDHC / MMC / MS / CF cards. It can even read images from a pen drive.

The Transcend PF810 Digital Photo Frame has quite a few high end features which add to its price but not as much to the value. For instance, the PF810 features an orientation sensor which will automatically displays the images in their correct orientation based on how the device itself is oriented. While this feature is certainly welcome, it is of doubtful utility in a device which is expected to be kept at a single place for extended periods of time. A manual control for the same might have sufficed for those who do change the orientation only once in a while.
